The spread of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI) across the globe presents both significant opportunities and challenges, particularly within key sectors such as agriculture, energy, and healthcare in Africa. While these technologies show promise in revolutionizing industries by enhancing efficiency, the lack of transparency surrounding GAI models raises concerns about accountability, fairness, and ethical implications. This chapter explores the importance of promoting transparency in GAI applications within the African context. By focusing on the African context, this chapter further aims to contribute to the global discourse on AI transparency, offering insights and recommendations that can help bridge the gap between technological advancement and ethical responsibility in these vital sectors.
