Amazon Web Services (AWS) Re/Start Digital Training Programme
The Ministry of Communications, Ghana, in collaboration with the Responsible Artificial Intelligence Lab (RAIL) and the Smart Africa Digital Academy (SADA), has commenced a free three-month re/START programme to equip the youth of Ghana with digital skills needed to make them employable to achieve the objectives of the Fourth Industrial revolution. The stakeholders have engaged SMEs in the employment space to engage successful graduates of this programme.
Over 500 applicants applied for the training, of which 325 have been pre-selected. The pre-selected applicants have been put into three cohorts, of which the training for the first cohort began on 5th June 2023 and will end on 31st August 2023. The digital skills training focuses on SysOps.
Dr. Eric Tutu Tchao, Partnership Coordinator, RAIL, stated that participants would be onboarded onto the AWS platforms to kick start the training programme
Mr. Jephthah Danso, the training programme instructor, said the training would help fill the IT and cloud programming gap and added that the digital training aims to prepare participants by providing them with hands-on free digital skills and professional certification to make them industry-ready. He said participants must be dedicated and committed to the training sessions.
During the training, Mr. Danso took participants through an Introduction to computers, where participants identified various hardware and software components and the uses of computers. He then led them to create their first Amazon Web Server instance. There were short knowledge test quizzes as well..
