Dr Agyemang emphasised that the insights are designed to guide stakeholders in creating impactful and responsible solutions. He noted a significant policy gap, stating that “national policy remains largely silent on assistive technology and does not adequately promote or support local innovations.” He also highlighted RAIL and AI4SD’s commitment to developing inclusive and responsible AI solutions that meet the real needs of persons with disabilities, sharing ongoing innovations aimed at improving mobility, communication, and access to essential services.

GFD’s National Vice President, Mamudu Sirina

Speakers across the program echoed the need for tangible, localised action. GFD’s National Vice President, Mamudu Sirina, urged a shift toward local manufacturing of assistive devices, arguing that “relying on imported technology limits affordability and access.” She called for accessibility to move “beyond policy to action” in all public spaces.

Mr. Andrews Minkah Gyimah, Ashanti Regional President of GFD

Mr. Andrews Minkah Gyimah, Ashanti Regional President of GFD, acknowledged RAIL’s crucial support, noting that such partnerships are “vital for driving innovation and raising awareness on disability inclusion.”

Representing the Ashanti Regional Minister, Felicia Owusu Agyemang reaffirmed the government’s commitment to inclusion, highlighting ongoing collaborations to make assistive technologies more accessible and affordable. She encouraged educational and healthcare institutions to adopt inclusive tools and devices to better serve individuals with disabilities.

RAIL remains committed to building ecosystems that support local innovators, inform inclusive policies, and create assistive technologies that truly empower.
