RAIL AND Women in Engineering (WinE) KNUST Establishes the SHECodes Club

In partnership with Women in Engineering (WinE) KNUST, RAIL has established a coding club called the SHECodes Club. The club, commissioned on Saturday, 11th March 2023, seeks to equip ladies from diverse fields of study with coding essentials and build their capacities in AI-based solutions to solve real-life problems. The SHECodes club is a digital skills development programme training female students at KNUST.

Participants were taken through the basics of coding by William Dadzi-Rhule from the College of Engineering Innovation Center.

Members of the club were introduced to the Arduino platform and basic coding. Arduino is an open-source electronics platform that provides an accessible and interactive way to learn about electronics and programming. The club recognises the immense potential of Arduino in empowering women in engineering and promoting their skills in electronics and programming.

Kasuadana Sulemana Adams, Administrator of the College of Engineering Innovation Center, took participants through the practical sessions.

Seasoned facilitators from the College of Engineering Innovation Center and RAIL took participants through engaging and informative sessions. These coding sessions were designed to give members a comprehensive understanding of Arduino, its applications and programming concepts specific to Arduino.

Members of the club will work on group projects as part of the training. This will help students demonstrate their skills, exchange ideas, and learn from each other’s projects. Members will showcase their creativity by applying the knowledge gained in Arduino to the projects.
